Placement students at ProspectSoft are embraced as full members of the team and are given responsibility accordingly. This is likely to involve the students taking ownership of multiple projects that will eventually be used by our customers and by ourselves internally within the company.

This position will be highly software development focused and will involve the use of technologies such as VB6, ActiveX/COM and the .NET framework. Any experience in Visual Basic 6/.NET, SQL or Sybase databases will be advantageous although not essential. Good communication skills both written and verbal are equally important as placements may be required to deal with our customers either directly or through our resellers and even visit client sites to attend meetings and help with software installation, implementation and training. Students can expect to leave their placement having had real life experience of the entire development lifecycle.

Successful applicants can expect to gain a great deal of experience working with customers on systems analysis, software development, databases and writing SQL statements and procedures to populate and manipulate data within them. Placement students will also gain experience with some of the industry's latest and most powerful technologies such as Microsoft Windows Servers, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Virtual PC 2007, Microsoft Exchange, Go-to-assist, ProspectSoft CRM… and many more.

This year’s students have been working closely with permanent staff to ensure the successful release of versions 5.50 and 6.00 of ProspectSoft CRM. Other placement activities have included full development projects, setting up testing and demonstration environments, assisting with the specification and design of bespoke software developments for customers, visiting the CeBIT exhibition in Hannover Germany to assist with the setup of ProspectSoft CRM software at the Intel demonstration stand as well as various customer visits and consultancy work.
