Intel's
Centrino Worldwide Launch at CeBIT |
Intel staged the worldwide launch of its Centrino processor
at CeBIT in Hanover, Germany. The application running
on Centrino on the Intel stand throughout the show was
ProspectSoft Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Software. |
| |
These demonstrations at CeBIT
highlight the advantages of Intel Centrino mobile technology,
which represent
a major breakthrough in mobile performance. ProspectSoft
CRM software was chosen by Intel as the ideal product
partner for the new processor as our system has been
designed from the outset, to meet the needs of mobile
workers who require convenient, all-day access to enterprise
information. |
| |
This is a significant date on
the ProspectSoft CRM software calendar, as it is the
start of a long-term partnership between
ProspectSoft and Intel. Over the coming weeks and months,
both companies will be marking further announcements
in the form of press releases, promotional videos and
follow-up case studies. |
| |
| What does all this mean? To begin with, here are a
few facts: |
| |
• The underlying database engine of ProspectSoft CRM software is a Sybase's SQL Anywhere Studio. Independent research data shows that SQL Anywhere accounts for 73% of mobile database market - way ahead of all other suppliers combined.
• ProspectSoft is the fastest-growing application software development customer of Sybase's iAnywhere subsidiary.
• Sybase iAnywhere has also issued a press release which heavily features the ProspectSoft/Centrino application.
• ProspectSoft is the only company today with a full-functional, wireless-ready CRM software for the Centrino platform.
• Almost 90% of current ProspectSoft CRM software installations include one or more mobile user licences.
• ProspectSoft CRM mobile data already incorporates information from accounts and other back-office systems, as well as Microsoft Office documents.
• Dataquest have forecasted that wireless communication capability would be standard on all mobile computing devices by the end of 2004.
• Intel is ramping up an extensive promotional campaign around Centrino, supported by impressive levels of funding, and partnered by ProspectSoft. |
| |
All these points indicate that
we together with other software partners and resellers
are in the right place,
at the right time, to capitalize on a very major opportunity.
intel didn't select Siebel, Sales Logix, Goldmine or
Act! - they choose to partner with the system that
already has proven data mobility. |
| |
Clearly, we didn't become Intel
partners overnight, it took lengthy periods of work,
during which, we were
party to a tight non-disclosure agreement. Because
we couldn't share that activity with anyone before,
here's
some of the history. |
| |
| Background |
In 2002, ProspectSoft, together
with the iAnywhere division of Sybase, were invited
to assist intel with
proving and performance trials of a prototype processor
code-named "Banias". For this, we provided
a copy of our software with only slight modifications
and the whole
exercise proved to be very successful. Following approval
from Intel’s HQ in the US, Intel’s European
team sent us a pre-production Banias-equipped PC and
our developers proceeded to optimise ProspectSoft CRM
software for the new processor. |
| |
In January, a meeting took place
with a senior marketing and a technical manager from
Intel Europe, to plan the
creation of a case study around the new processor,
and its benefits to an application such as CRM Software.
The case
study, by Triangle Technology Advisors in California,
was published. It was also shown on the
CeBIT website. The January discussions also explored
the possibility of using ProspectSoft CRM solution
at the forthcoming launch at CeBIT. Our developers
worked
hard to produce
a live wireless-enabled demonstration to show on the
Intel stand in Hanover. Early in February, Intel announced
the new processor in California, under its official
name, Centrino. |
| |
Over the past couple of weeks, working closely with
Intel Europe staff, we were preparing release
materials, training their staff on our system and a
member of our development team was in Hanover supporting
the stand set-up. |
| |
On the product-launch day, Andrew Ardron, managing
Director of ProspectSoft was invited to attend. The next
afternoon, Andrew met key European and US people from
intel and Sybase in Hanover. |
| |
In 2 weeks, a new software release
was available with our first phase of wireless optimisation,
to support
the Centrino platform in a "Occasionally connected" environment. |
| |
Intel is spending millions of dollars promoting Centrino
in particular and wireless computing in general. CeBIT
was just the beginning of our Intel Partnership. We will
continue to work with them to produce further case studies,
press releases and to develop additional software around
mobile and wireless computing. |

A Centrino/ProspectSoft CRM Software
video has been produced and is being promoted by Intel.
