Last time we spoke about web analytics I left you with the idea that your website could be generating leads for you 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
But when it comes to marketing teams generating leads, it would seem the sales guys don’t think the leads are worth their time. According to a survey by the CEB 53% wanted better leads from their marketing department, whilst 30% didn’t trust the quality of leads they were provided with.
I also briefly spoke about page scoring last time, and it’s this that has changed the lead generation game. Whether your sales team wants to believe it or not, your marketing team are in the best place to generate high quality leads.
So what does page scoring give you?
- Giving each page on your site a score based on how important you think it is lets you start building a score for each visitor to your site and in turn let you identify opportunities for the sales guys.
- Once a visitors score starts building set up alerts which let your sales people know when their ‘hottest’ prospects are active on your site. They’ll know exactly when the right time to act is.
- Your lead scoring can even be used to upsell to your existing customers by identifying which products or services they’re looking at, and probably missing.
By adopting lead scoring your website will become one of your most important marketing and lead generation tools. Whether you rely on social media, PPC or email marketing make your audience’s final destination your website. Now you can track them throughout their initial visit and every time they come back. Let them build up their score and pass them to your sales guys when they’re on the brink of buying, and that’s just the start.
