Royal Mail roll out Local Collect for SMEs

The Royal Mail have announced that they will be partnering with the Post Office to roll out Click and Collect to 20,000 British SMEs. 

The decision comes amongst plans to strengthen their parcel business after their biggest customer, Amazon, launched its own fleet of delivery vans.

The introduction of Click and Collect will mean SMEs can now easily offer their customers the option to collect at a convenient location, rather than be forced to wait for a delivery. A perfect option for many of our time-poor customers who place orders that are required ASAP.

Nick Landon, Managing Director of Royal Mail, believes that this introduction will be a success option for SMEs as 48% of customers are more likely to use an online shop that delivers directly to a Post Office branch.

Alongside online shopping, there has been a definite increase in convenience shopping over the past few years. Whilst delivery is still deemed more popular, the ability to offer click and collect will appeal to the time-poor customer, often used for immediately required items as well as offering more control as to when and where each order will be ready for collection.

In a bid to fully back this venture there will be 150,000 Post Office branches, with extended opening hours.
